1. Attention fellow Black filmmakers.

Who the hell told you all you could do was a shitty urban drama/comedy/action/thriller/horror movie?

Who the hell told you not to read up on directing actors, blocking, shooting a scene, mise-en-scene, using music, editing, BASICALLY ANYTHING ABOUT FILMMAKING?

WHO THE FUCK TOLD YOU IT WAS OKAY TO BE MEDIOCRE?

I DEMAND TO KNOW WHO SO I CAN PUNCH THEM IN THE FUCKING ENTRAILS.

We can do better! We can do better than a web-series about a girl and her relationship issues.

We can do better than TYLER PERRY. We can do better than SPIKE LEE. We can do better than LEE DANIELS. MALCOLM D. LEE. TIM STORY. JOHN SINGLETON (what happened to you, dude).

Steve McQueen is proof of that. Ava DuVernay is proof of that. The Hughes Brothers, even. Also, Terence Nance.

And soon, I will be proof of that too.
